Energyline Ltd is a leading integrated consultancy, survey, and investigation service for the power systems industry based in Knaresborough and Copgrove, North Yorkshire.

We are offering trainee positions where you’ll learn to inspect and survey many aspects of the UK electricity transmission network.

As a Trainee OHL (Overhead Line) Technician you will receive full training to specialise in a broad range of overhead line construction services, including condition assessment, compliance, quality assurance and project management.

Role specific responsibilities

Tasks and Responsibilities : Reporting to the Site Services Manager, you will be responsible for the professional delivery of specialist OHL construction services, working as part of a team to deliver against client requirements, technical specifications and set procedures.

Tasks involved will include –

  • Carrying out of Post Construction Inspection (PCI) services
  • Carrying out of Tower Condition Surveys (TCS)
  • Health and Safety Compliance Monitoring
  • Tower Painting Contract – Quality Assurance Monitoring
  • Visual Helicopter Assessments
  • Carrying out Engineering Walkthrough Surveys (EWS)
  • Precision Survey – Assistant Surveyor Support

Experience required

Qualifications : Applicants should have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s or other equivalent vocational qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ level 2 etc).

You must also hold a full and valid UK driving licence.

Skills Required :

  • You should be comfortable with working at height and be happy working outdoors – this is a physical role.
  • You should have experience of working effectively as part of a team.
  • Self- motivation and a can-do attitude are essential.
  • You should demonstrate excellent communication and inter personal skills - OHL Technicians are the face of Energyline whilst out in the field, the role involves interfaces with clients, grantors, public and other utility services.
  • A good level of computer literacy and IT skills would be desirable, particularly using Excel and Word programmes.
  • The successful candidate must be organised, flexible, willing to learn and adapt to the diverse work load, whilst maintaining the highest professional standards.

Salary – A competitive salary package is provided.

Working Hours : We work for clients throughout the UK but predominantly in Scotland so you should be willing to work away from home often. The role also involves a flexible work pattern and occasional weekend working for which additional payment will be made.
