Energyline Ltd was founded in 2002 by John Warburton and began with a small, experienced team of ex National Grid Overhead Line Design Engineers supported by a Design Office function. The business soon built a reputation for itself as a straight-talking, down to earth, ambitious company thanks, in no small part, to the personality of its founder. Energyline identified that its clients’ (principally the Network Operators in both Transmission and Distribution) requirements would be better serviced if there was less reliance on third parties to provide route and asset information. The solution was for Energyline to develop our range of services to become a fully integrated engineering and environmental consultancy that could meet all of our client’s needs.

Operating from Knaresborough, North Yorkshire where we have remained, the business has built its team based on the character of the individual and investment in their development. It has grown to a now 50-strong team of highly knowledgeable and experienced engineers, surveyors and town planners/environmentalists. John sadly passed away in 2021, but you would have been hard pushed to find a person in Energyline not previously connected to him in some way be it friend, family or previous colleague. Energyline maintain his ethos of developing skills and knowledge from within and investing in our team through development opportunities and mentorship.

Our Senior team have been with the company cumulatively for over seventy years, which is a testament to their loyalty and experience. We believe that the continuity of our team gives our clients such as; Scottish & Southern Energy, Scottish Power, Western Power Distribution and National Grid the reassurance that their project is in safe hands that understand their needs. The multi-disciplinary nature of Energyline’s services makes us ideally suited to understanding the challenges of the full scheme and where opportunities for efficiencies may be leveraged.
