Energyline has worked with WPD on the 11kV and 33kV distribution network that it operates. As part of an ongoing programme of works, a feasibility study was undertaken to assess a reconfiguration and potential reutilisation of an existing, aged, 33kV lattice steel terminal support, and to assess the pros and cons of replacement with an equivalent 33kV wood pole support.
Principal activities
Topographical and precision surveys of the existing support(s) and terrain.
Line and support modelling using PLS CADD
Tower Climbing survey of the lattice steel termination support
Clearance study to confirm existing and new clearances for the connection and proposed downlead configurations
Load and strength analysis using PLS Tower and PLS Pole to determine the suitability of the proposed supports
Line profile and layout plans
Comprehensive report on findings, including clear conclusions and recommendations
