Energyline provides Overhead Line Design services to the Electricity Networks industry.

Overhead Line Design is the core activity, for both transmission and distribution networks

Our team use advanced proprietary software and current overhead line design standards to deliver efficient and fully compliant solutions. Design work is quality assured to ISO9001, and statutory duties with regard to The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 are observed, with Energyline taking the role of Designer or Principal Designer, depending on client preferences.

Whether the project is a 400kV transmission line or an 11kV pole line, our well qualified and experienced team deliver design services that include:

Corridor selection studies (including walkover surveys)
Route selection studies (including walkover surveys)
Profiling, micro-siting and production of ground line models
Third party searches and associated GIS mapping
Conductor selection studies including conductor ratings
Comprehensive conductor system design
Risk assessments
Design Assurance
Comprehensive conductor system design

Overhead Line Design Case Studies

33KV Terminal Support Studies

Energyline has worked with WPD on the 11kV and 33kV distribution network that it operates. As part of an ongoing programme of works, a feasibility study was undertaken to assess a reconfiguration and potential reutilisation of an existing, aged, 33kV lattice steel terminal support, and to assess the pros and cons of replacement with an equivalent 33kV wood pole support.

Skye Reinforcement

Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) were assessing the existing 132kV Quoich to Broadford (QB) overhead line for reutilisation, as part of the larger Skye Reinforcement Project. Energyline were engaged to undertake pertinent studies and surveys to inform the assessment of existing lattice steel towers.
